Moscow's Troitskoye Depot to Become Russia's Largest Electric Train Hub by 2029

Moscow has begun building Troitskoye, set to become Russia's largest electric depot. The massive project will support the expanding Troitskaya metro line and is scheduled for completion by 2029. Once finished, it will span 26.7 hectares with 11 separate buildings.

The new depot will include a 100,000-square-metre production and administrative complex. Facilities will cover maintenance, repairs, and crew training, with 70 inspection pits, a wheel-turning section, and a washing bay. A dedicated energy complex will power the entire site independently.

An administrative building, motor depot, and storage areas will also form part of the development. The depot's primary role will be servicing trains for the Troitskaya metro line, which remains under active construction.

Troitskoye is expected to open in 2029, providing critical infrastructure for Moscow's growing metro network. The depot's specialised facilities will ensure efficient train maintenance and crew preparation for the Troitskaya line.
