Warning Issued for Rockets in Kyiv: Russia Flouts Ceasefire Over 700 Times
Moscow repeatedly breached the ceasefire in Kiev, transgressing over 700 times.
In a breach of the agreed-upon truce, Russia isn't respecting its own declared ceasefire, according to reports reaching us from Kyiv. "As per our military data, Russian forces continue their assault along the entire front line," stated Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on social media. Since midnight, the Russian military has violated the ceasefire more than 700 times according to our records.
An Early Escalation
Earlier this morning, the Ukrainian air force had sounded air alerts in seven eastern Ukrainian regions, due to a potential risk of Russian ballistic missile attacks. Additionally, during the night, Russia attacked the eastern Ukrainian region of Sumy with guided bombs, as per the air force's earlier report.
Putin had unilaterally declared a three-day ceasefire, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the end of World War II. Sybiha wrote in disbelief, "As predictable as it is, Putin's 'parade ceasefire' turns out to be a false pretense. Russian forces continue to attack along the entire front line."
Russian Complaints of Ukrainian Transgressions and Advance Attempts
Despite these numerous violations of the ceasefire, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow claimed that the Russian army adhered strictly to the ceasefire and only responded to Ukrainian attacks. They also reported a Ukrainian breakthrough attempt in the Russian region of Kursk. The Russian military also reported 488 instances of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire.
Zelenskyy's Call for Unified Force Against the "Evil"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed his country's role in liberating Europe from Nazism on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. In his video message, Zelenskyy noted that 8 million Ukrainians perished in the fight for freedom during that time, emphasizing the importance of united forces in combating evil still present today.
