Following the horrific crime against a local family in the Westerwald region of Rhineland-Pfalz, authorities are sifting through over 200 tips to locate the alleged perpetrator, police in Koblenz confirmed on a Tuesday briefing.
The tragic victims—a 47-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman, and their 16-year-old son—were discovered deceased in a home in Weitefeld, Altenkirchen district, on a Sunday morning. As law enforcement officers approached the property, a masked individual, presumed to be the culprit, managed to flee the scene.
As of now, investigators have identified a 61-year-old individual as the main suspect in this triple murder case. Warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges of multiple homicide, and searches are underway to locate him. A police helicopter may be deployed to aid in the manhunt.
At approximately 3:45 AM on that Sunday morning, the still-living woman reportedly contacted the authorities via emergency call. Upon the officers' arrival, she was already unresponsive. All three bodies were found in a single room.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the brutality was inflicted using both firearms and sharp weapons. The motives behind the heinous act remain enigmatic. No evident familial connections to the crime have surfaced yet.
