Pasta Production Boost: Riesa's Teigwaren Expands with Schätzle Plant Acquisition
Traditional noodle producer Teigwaren Riesa GmbH, situated in Riesa, Saxony, has recently expanded its operations by acquiring and revamping a pasta plant previously operated by Schätzle GmbH in Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg. After a swift 4-month construction period, the plant famously known for spaetzle and rolled noodles was put into action on Monday. This expansion aims to boost the company's annual pasta production by an impressive 20,000 tons, pushing the total capacity to a staggering 45,000 tons.
Teigwaren Riesa GmbH, a company with deep roots in Baden-Württemberg, has belonged to the Freidler entrepreneurial family since 1993. The Swabian pasta manufacturer Alb-Gold is also under their control. Since last October, Biavest, an investment firm specialized in the food industry, has owned 80% of the shares in this traditional powerhouse. With an annual turnover of €40 million reported in 2022, the company employs around 150 full-time workers.
