Unique Traffic Light Motifs on the Rise in Saxony-Anhalt? 🚧🚦🧙♀️
Fancy seeing more diverse designs on your traffic lights in Saxony-Anhalt? Get ready for potential changes! The success of the "witch traffic light" in Wernigerode has sparked interest from local politicians. Stendal, for instance, is looking at incorporating a Roland motif, a nod to the city's iconic landmark.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure in Magdeburg, they've noticed an uptick in local authorities looking for ways to establish identifying points and advertise, right down to traffic lights. And, according to Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP), there's ample provision in traffic regulations for this.
The "witch traffic lights" in Wernigerode, showcasing a green, flying witch and a red, standing devil, officially went live in June. Sure, traffic lights with distinctive motifs are not exactly common in Saxony-Anhalt as of now. In fact, apart from Wernigerode, there haven't been any documented applications for such designs.
But road safety and regional relevance will be the key factors deciding future traffic light motifs. After negotiations at the federal-state level, the majority of states have expressed support for exceptions to the typical traffic light man.
Stendal's city council plans to discuss the Roland traffic lights by early December. If approved, the city will proudly boast another unique traffic light design in Saxony-Anhalt, joining the Wernigerode "witch traffic lights" as the only special designs.
While researching local news sources or official municipal websites could shed more light on other potential traffic light designs in the region, for now, the idea of more motifs on your traffic lights in Saxony-Anhalt is definitely a debated topic worth keeping tabs on!❗️
