This unofficial route, while not part of the Netherland-Rhein-Weg, offers a taste of what this popular bike path between Germany and the Netherlands has to offer.

Our jaunt begins at the 89th kilometer mark, parked at the train station in Nettetal-Breyell. After a hearty warm-up, the route meanders through the landscape conservation area Venloer Heide before reaching Leuth, the 3rd kilometer point. Along the way, keep an eye out for serene lakes and bird species making their homes among the reed belts. Sailing and canoeing enthusiasts can enjoy the large lake north of the old railway track, while nature buffs can also explore the NABU nature conservation farm Nettetal, offering a great opportunity to learn about local fauna and flora.

The ADFC Krefeld-Viersen is organizing a guided bike tour of this route on June 22, 2025. If you're up for the challenge, register via email [email protected] or by phone/SMS at 0172/20 52 536.
