Victory Rolls on for Poker Whiz, Arjanveer 'Instrumenal' Chadha
This past weekend saw yet another triumph for Indian poker prodigy, Arjanveer Chadha, snagging his second title in Event 7 of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) hosted on Spartan Poker. Despite a whopping 274 participants, Chadha emerged victorious, adding another INR 77,312 to his impressive tally.
It all started with a INR 440 buy-in Rebuy+Add on tournament initially promising an INR 3.5 Lakhs guarantee, smashing the bar to a final prize pool of INR 3,85,600, distributable among the top 39 competitors. The smallest slice on the pie, a min-cash of INR 2,660, went to 39 hopefuls.
The action-packed final table boasted well-known names such as 'GTOExploited' (7th), 'lionroar29' (6th) and the last day's winner, 'Bikini Babe' (5th). Bikini Babe's deep run yielded an additional INR 23,791 to his IOPC prize purse. Tough three-way play between 'HaiTohHai', Instrumenal, and 'chilling' resulted in a significant chip shift towards Instrumenal. Despite chilling's hopes for a gutshot draw, Instrumenal emerged victorious to send chilling home with INR 37,596.
Heading into the heads-up battle against HaiTohHai, Instrumenal faced a significant deficit, with a stack totaling just 1.9 million against HaiTohHai's 3.2 million. However, fate favored Instrumenal, as a pivotal hand with pocket Tens netted him a massive 1.3 million chip pot, leveling the field. The battle was short-lived, with Instrumenal managing to outwit HaiTohHai in just five hands, sealing the deal with a King high flush to cap off the event.
Chadha, a 28-year-old hailing from India, attributes his poker prowess to a combination of influences. He was initially introduced to the game by his brother during college in Canada and further honed his skills by watching online poker strategy videos and engaging in micro stakes games with fellow students. After exploring various ventures and finding little lasting satisfaction, Chadha decided to focus on poker professionally, considering it a viable backup plan should his poker career falter.
Looking ahead, Chadha has set his sights on international poker tournaments, with a planned trip to the APPT Manila in August. He expressed hope that his current hot streak will extend to live poker events.
