Houston Texans Safety Jimmie Ward Cleared of Domestic Violence Charges

In a significant turn of events, the Montgomery County grand jury has dismissed a third-degree felony domestic violence case against Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward. The decision comes after Ward's defense team presented extensive exculpatory evidence, including text messages, to the jury.

The case against Ward, who joined the Texans in 2023, stemmed from his arrest in June. The accuser, Ward's former fiancée, had claimed that he had assaulted her multiple times and attempted to strangle her. However, the grand jury did not agree with these allegations and did not find probable cause that Ward had committed a criminal offense.

Despite the dismissal, Ward remains on the NFL Commissioner's Exempt List as a result of the case against him. This means he is currently unable to participate in any club activities, including practices, meetings, or games.

Ward, who has played in just 20 games over the past two seasons due to injuries, can now resume his role with the Houston Texans and their quest for a Super Bowl. His attorney, Stephen Jackson, thanked the NFL commissioner, Houston Texans organization, and ownership for their patience and belief in Ward during this difficult time.

In a separate case in Montgomery County, Ward was the subject of a common law marriage filing against his accuser, but he won the case and was awarded approximately $250,000 in attorney fees.

However, Ward still faces a $20 million civil lawsuit in Harris County based on allegations of domestic violence. As of now, there are no search results providing information about a civil case plaintiff against Jimmie Ward concerning allegations of domestic violence, nor details about the plaintiff or the case from the plaintiff's side.

This development in Ward's legal matters is undoubtedly a relief for the Houston Texans and their fans, who are eagerly anticipating his return to the field. As the team gears up for the upcoming season, Ward's contribution to the defence could prove to be a crucial factor in their quest for football's ultimate prize.
