Montessori pupils once again excel at Bavarian chess tournament qualification
In a thrilling show of skill and strategy, the Montessori School Ingolstadt emerged victorious at the Upper Bavarian School Chess Championship held on January 18 in Dorfen. The school fielded four teams, with twenty children participating, many of whom were newcomers.
The competition class IV, featuring students up to 13 years old, saw a nail-biting end as three teams were tied in points. The nail-biting final was decided in blitz games, where the Montessori School's team showed their mettle, defeating two equally strong opponents to clinch the championship. This triumph qualifies them for the Bavarian School Chess Championship scheduled to take place on March 15 at the Willibald-Gluck-Gymnasium in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.
The school's principal, Christina Dreinhofer, and kindergarten director, Michaela Adlkofer, took the opportunity to thank the parents for their support and congratulate all children on their excellent performances. They also acknowledged the success of some accompanying parents who also had an impressive day.
Two teams from the Montessori Primary School also participated in the event, but no specific details about their performances were provided. The team in competition class III, consisting of students up to 15 years old, achieved a top-table ranking, but further details about their performance are not available.
Participation in the tournament was a valuable experience for all young chess players, offering them an opportunity to test their skills against other schools in the region. As the Montessori School Ingolstadt prepares for the Bavarian School Chess Championship, the school community is filled with anticipation and pride.
