Monster Hunter Wilds Unveils Partnership with Final Fantasy XIV: Introducing Rideable Chocobos and the Challenging Boss, Omega, as a New Huntable Monster.

Monster Hunter Wilds unveils partnership with Final Fantasy XIV, featuring ridable Chocobos and the integration of Omega, one of Final Fantasy XIV's toughest raid bosses, as a new creature to pursuit in the game.

In an exciting turn of events, Monster Hunter Wilds is set to shake up its difficulty level with the addition of Omega, a notorious boss from the Final Fantasy franchise, first appearing in 1992's Final Fantasy V. This mechanical monstrosity, reminiscent of a giant beetle-like robot armed with lasers, rocket punches, and explosives, is considered one of the toughest bosses in Final Fantasy history.

The upcoming 3rd Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled for release in late September 2025, will introduce this formidable adversary. The fight with Omega is expected to be one of the toughest encounters in the game, significantly harder than many other bosses. Players familiar with Omega from Final Fantasy titles describe it as a gruelling, high-difficulty encounter requiring specific strategies and team compositions to survive.

Compared to other bosses in Monster Hunter Wilds, Omega stands out for its difficulty spike and intricate fight phases. The fight involves multiple stages, including strategic use of the environment and mechanics such as "starboard and lab" directional attacks that require positioning awareness. This is unlike many other monsters in the game, which have been criticized for being less aggressive and easier, especially early in the game where damage from monsters is low and player survivability is high.

The inclusion of Omega is viewed as a positive shift toward addressing the overall lack of challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds, particularly in the endgame content. Its difficulty rivals that of other notoriously hard bosses like Behemoth from the Monster Hunter World collaboration, placing Omega among the highest tier of difficulty bosses in the series. While the game previously suffered from overly streamlined mechanics, fighting Omega demands careful preparation, skillful play, and teamwork, making it a standout challenge within Monster Hunter Wilds' roster of monsters.

Players can expect to farm Omega's metallic hide for cool gear after defeating it in Monster Hunter Wilds. Moreover, the 3rd Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds might also come with optimization upgrades for the PC version, a welcome improvement for many players.

This is not the first time Monster Hunter has had a major crossover event with Final Fantasy. In Final Fantasy XIV's Dawntrail expansion, players could participate in a crossover event to obtain Monster Hunter Wilds' Seikret mount and fight Arkveld, a monster from Monster Hunter Wilds, in a special Trial raid fight. Capcom and Square Enix announced this crossover event at Gamescom 2025.

In addition to the Omega boss fight, Arkveld, a monster from Monster Hunter Wilds, is being added to Final Fantasy XIV, potentially allowing players to earn a mount version of Arkveld for their collection. Players can also ride Chocobos as cosmetic skins for Seikret mounts and catch Cactuar for their Endemic Life collection in Monster Hunter Wilds.

For those who have played Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster or Final Fantasy XIV, the Omega boss fight is already a challenging experience. However, for those who no longer play Final Fantasy XIV after the Dawntrail expansion disappointed them, the introduction of Omega in Monster Hunter Wilds might serve as a compelling reason to return to the game.
