Monsoon Causing Intense Downpours Over Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the Northeastern Regions of India

A low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal near Odisha's coast is expected to intensify and move northwards over the next 48 hours, driving monsoon rains across several regions in India. The Southwest Monsoon is also actively advancing, bringing favourable conditions for its further spread. Here's a breakdown of the forecast for various regions:

Northwest India

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise slightly (2-3°C) over Northwest India in the next two days, followed by a gradual fall over the next 4-5 days. However, Jammu & Kashmir will experience scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and wind gusts of 50-60 kmph, with an isolated heat wave.

Central India

Central India will experience no significant temperature changes for the next three days, with a gradual rise afterward.

East India and Other Regions

East India and other regions will see mostly stable temperatures with minor fluctuations.

Southern Regions

Kerala

Kerala will experience extremely heavy rainfall between May 28th and 30th. For the forecast period of August 10-16, 2025, expect light to moderate rainfall at most to many places, with some heavy rainfall likely on certain days due to the monsoon and cyclonic circulations over the region. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected.

Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra

These regions will have gusty winds 40-50 kmph and thunderstorms. Konkan and ghat areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka will see very heavy rainfall on August 7-8 and again around August 12-15.

North Interior Karnataka

North Interior Karnataka will experience light to moderate rainfall, with a cyclonic circulation present, enhancing rainfall chances.

Madhya Pradesh and Bihar

Madhya Pradesh and Bihar will have light to moderate rainfall with a possibility of thundersquall.

Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan

Punjab, Haryana, Delhi will have rain and thunderstorms with wind gusts of 50-60 kmph. Rajasthan will have isolated rainfall with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph and heat wave conditions in pockets on August 10.

Northeast India

Northeast India is forecasted to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms for the next week. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Mizoram will see isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on specific days.

Coastal Regions

Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal

Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal will experience isolated heavy to very heavy rain from August 10-16.

Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, and Goa

Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, and Goa will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next 6 to 7 days. Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning may prevail intermittently, and fishermen are advised to be cautious in adjoining Arabian Sea waters due to squally conditions from August 9 to 14.

The Southwest Monsoon is active over these western coastal and southern interior regions, with the low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal driving moist winds and enhancing convective rainfall. The maximum temperatures may be above normal in areas including Karnataka and Konkan & Goa, supporting active monsoon conditions.

Weather-forecasting indicates a rise in temperatures by 2-3°C in Northwest India over the next two days, followed by a gradual decline. The Southwest Monsoon is actively advancing, promoting the weather-forecasting of heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next 6 to 7 days in Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, and Goa.
