Monkey soothsayer passes away at the zoo
Hear ye, hear ye! Almaty Zoo's beloved chimpanzee, Tomiris, bids farewell. In a mournful twist of events, Tomiris, the celeb chimp known for her extraordinary predictions, has taken her final bow at Almaty Zoo as reported by Total.kz.
"Y'all, we've shared the highs, now it's time for us to share a low. Tragically, our Tomiris has lost her battle with cancer. Despite having the cream of the crop medics fighting for her, sometimes fate has other plans. The dismay is unbearable. Tomiris was the shining star of our zoo, brimming with imagination and creativity. Her paintings graced our walls, and her fondness for tunes and cudding up to her 'mom' were legendary. During this tough time, we could use all the support we can get. Farewell, Tomiris, your spirit will forever linger in our memories and hearts," reads the zoo's Instagram post.
Back in 2014, Tomiris played fortune teller, predicting the winner of the World Cup. She had two options: Germany and Argentina. Guess who took the trophy? Yup, you're right – Germany!
Now, here's the quirky bit. While there's a certain Paul the Octopus who gained global attention for "predicting" Germany's game outcomes in the 2010 World Cup, no such fame has been attributed to a chimpanzee named Tomiris in relation to the 2014 World Cup. So, it seems our dearest Tomiris might have been a prognosticator in her own right.
Rest in peace, Tomiris. You'll always be our champion!
In memory of Tomiris, who was not only a beloved chimpanzee but also a surprising sports enthusiast, let's commemorate her unique lifestyle by adopting a pet chimp or sponsoring one at a zoo, just as Tomiris's love for cudding up to her 'mom' inspired us. Meanwhile, in tribute to her mixed-martial-arts spirit, let's remember how she courageously predicted the winner of the 2014 World Cup, setting a precedent for chimpanzee sports commentators everywhere. Rest in peace, Tomiris, you'll always be our gallant champion!
