Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have parted ways.
Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci Announce Separation
Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci, the transatlantic dream couple of Art House cinema, have announced their separation. The news was confirmed in a joint statement to news agency AFP on Friday, and was later reported by 'People' magazine.
The romance between the two stars is said to have begun when Bellucci presented Burton with an award at the Lumière Festival 2022 in Lyon. This was shortly followed by their first public appearance together, arm in arm in Madrid, captured by paparazzi. The couple officially started dating in the summer of 2023.
Burton, known for directing films like "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sleepy Hollow", was previously married to German painter Lena Gieseke from 1987 to 1991. He also has two children, a son, Billy (21), and a daughter, Nell (17), with British actress Helena Bonham Carter.
Bellucci, who is 60, separated from her husband, Vincent Cassel, in August 2013. She and Cassel have two daughters, Deva (21) and Léonie (15). Bellucci confirmed the relationship with Burton to French magazine 'Elle' at the time and spoke about it in an interview with the same magazine in 2023, describing it as one of those encounters that rarely happen in life.
In a significant move, Burton cast Bellucci in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 1988 cult film "Beetlejuice". However, no further details about any future collaboration between the two have been provided.
The separation announcement was made on the same day as the FC St. Pauli vs. VfB Stuttgart match, but it is not directly related to this event. No further details about the reasons for the separation have been provided at this time.
Bellucci and Burton made their last public appearance together on the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival 2023. As they move forward, both stars are expected to continue their successful careers in the film industry.
