Mongolia and Kuwait deepen trade ties with landmark meat import deal
The partnership was highlighted during Mongolia’s Republic Day celebrations in Kuwait. Ambassador H.E. Sergelen Purev called the event a key moment in the long-standing friendship between the two countries. He also thanked Kuwait’s leaders for their role in deepening cooperation.
Mongolia now plans to use Kuwait as a gateway for its products across the Gulf region. With Kuwait’s strategic location and alignment with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regulations, Mongolian goods—especially livestock and agricultural items—could soon reach markets in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. Ambassador Hayat noted these nations as potential beneficiaries of the expanded trade.
Further steps are already in motion. Preparations are underway to begin importing live cattle from Mongolia to Kuwait by early next year. This follows Kuwait’s broader strategy of diversifying food sources to ensure stable supply chains.
The new trade agreements mark a significant expansion in Kuwait-Mongolia relations. By importing Mongolian meat and soon live cattle, Kuwait strengthens its food security while offering Mongolia access to wider Middle Eastern markets. Both nations have described the collaboration as a milestone in their growing economic partnership.
