Ulm's Fischerstechen 2025: A Spectacular Second Day
The second day of Ulm's Fischerstechen 2025, held on July 20, 2025, was a day filled with excitement and historical flair. The sunny day saw the main event of the water jousting tournament, with 15 pairs of jousters competing in a series of intense duels.
The second round of the tournament was a highlight, with two representatives from Ulm's basketball and football teams participating, chosen by student vote. Despite their loss, they received applause from the audience, showing the city's support for its sports teams. A ruler from the other side of the Danube also earned the respect of the crowd with his impressive performance.
The day began with a grand historical parade through the city, featuring around 350 participants in traditional costumes, music, dancing, flags, and a horse-drawn boat celebrating Ulm’s history. The spectacle on the water featured audible "ohs" and "ahs" from the stands as the jousters fought valiantly, with Deininger, portrayed as the "King of Bavaria", standing out with his steadfastness and balance.
The overall winner of the Fischerstechen 2025 will be determined in the final match, which is yet to come. The second day of the competition continued the fantastic atmosphere from the first day, with the event's tribunes nearly filled to capacity.
