King Charles III, at the ripe age of 76, graced a special service at the Queen's Chapel in central London, marking the 400th anniversary of the chapel on a crisp Wednesday evening. Princess Alexandra, a 88-year-old cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth II, was by his side.

The duo took the front row at the historic chapel, where around 200 guests gathered for the ceremonial event. The evening was serenaded by the choir of the Gentlemen and Children of His Majesty's Chapel Royal.

Following the service, King Charles was adorned with a newly crafted altar piece - a ciborium. This marks the first addition to the chapel's liturgical silver since 1688. The ceremonial cup, carefully crafted by a silversmith, boasts the image of the Green Man - a mythical creature that also made an appearance in King Charles' coronation in 2023.

Back from Canada, King Charles Makes His First Post-Trip Public Appearance

Attending the festivities signified King Charles' first public appearance since his two-day trip to Canada at the end of May. Accompanied by Queen Camilla, the 76-year-old assumed his role as the head of state for the Canadian land. During his visit, Charles addressed the Canadian parliament with a speech from the throne, outlining the government's new program.

On the other hand, Princess Alexandra's attendance represented a rare public showing for the 88-year-old. While she continues to be an active member of the British royal family, she has stepped back from her full-time public duties in recent years. Her latest public appearance dates back to December of the previous year at the traditional Christmas lunch held at Buckingham Palace. Approximately ten months prior, in February 2024, she graced a thanksgiving service in Windsor for the late King Constantine of Greece with her daughter Marina Ogilvy.
