In the inaugural Champions League match of the 2023-2024 season, AS Monaco faced off against Bruges at the Stade Louis II in Monaco. The match, which took place on an unspecified date, saw an exciting turn of events as Spanish winger Ansu Fati made his debut for the club in the Champions League standings.

Fati, who joined AS Monaco on loan from Barcelona this summer with an option to buy, came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute, replacing Folarin Balogun. The young talent, known for his exceptional skills, had not scored a goal in nearly two years, with his last goal being scored on November 9, 2023, in the Europa League group stage for Brighton against Ajax Amsterdam.

The match against Bruges was not an easy one for AS Monaco, as they were trailing 3-0 when Fati stepped onto the pitch. However, the 17-year-old, who holds the record as the youngest goal scorer in Champions League history at 17 years and 1 month old, managed to turn the tide in the final moments of the game.

In stoppage time (90+1), Fati scored Monaco's only goal of the match, narrowing the deficit to 3-1. Despite his heroic effort, the match ended in a victory for Bruges, marking a tough start for AS Monaco in the Champions League group stage.

AS Monaco is a member of Group A in the Champions League group stage for the 2023-2024 season, alongside other teams yet to be determined. Bruges, on the other hand, is a member of Group B. The Champions League group stage will determine which teams advance to the knockout stages of the competition, which consist of the Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and the Final.

The Champions League group stage for the 2023-2024 season includes matches from multiple dates, with each group containing four teams playing a total of six matches against each other. The exact schedule for the group stage has not been released yet.

As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Ansu Fati and AS Monaco perform in the Champions League standings, hoping for a comeback in their upcoming matches.
