Bayer Goalkeeper Hradecky Set to Join Monaco in Upcoming Transfer - Monaco has secured the services of Bayer Leverkusen's goalkeeper, Lukas Hradecky, in a transfer deal.

Lukas Hradecky Joins AS Monaco as Bayer Leverkusen's Number One Role Threatened

Lukas Hradecky, a long-standing figure at Bayer Leverkusen, has made a surprising move to AS Monaco in early August 2025. The Finnish goalkeeper, who had been the undisputed number one at Leverkusen since 2018, signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, expiring in June 2027.

The decision to transfer was driven by Hradecky's desire to once again play as a regular starter in the UEFA Champions League. This ambition seemed unlikely at Leverkusen due to the arrival of Mark Flekken from Brentford, who was set to take over the starting role.

Hradecky's departure marks the end of a seven-year chapter at Leverkusen, during which he played a total of 286 games and led the team to a sensational double, significantly shaping the most successful era in the club's history. As captain, he played a crucial role in the 2023-24 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double win.

Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen's sporting director, granted Hradecky an early release following friendly discussions, allowing him to join AS Monaco. The transfer is reported to have fetched at least three million euros for Leverkusen.

With Hradecky's departure, Mark Flekken is expected to fill his position as the primary goalkeeper at Leverkusen. Flekken, who previously played for the Premier League club Brentford, is poised to begin a new era in Leverkusen's goalkeeping department.

Meanwhile, Hradecky's departure from Leverkusen has paved the way for the potential arrival of Janis Blaswich from RB Leipzig. Blaswich is reportedly set to join Leverkusen, having completed the mandatory medical check, with a transfer fee estimated to be around two million euros.

This transfer news comes amidst a period of significant change at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, with several key players, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah, Granit Xhaka, and possibly Piero Hincapie, Alejandro Grimaldo, Exequiel Palacios, and Victor Boniface, either having left or being rumoured to leave the club in recent months.

As Hradecky embarks on a new journey with AS Monaco, he will be aiming to replicate his success in France, while Leverkusen will be hoping that Mark Flekken can step up and fill the big boots left by their departing captain and goalkeeper.

Lukas Hradecky, in pursuit of regular UEFA Champions League play, has chosen to depart from Bayer Leverkusen, hoping to replicate his success on the European stage with AS Monaco. Meanwhile, the Finnish goalkeeper's move paves the way for Janis Blaswich to potentially join Leverkusen, who may now aspire to make his mark in European leagues, such as the UEFA Champions League.
