Moldova's Pro-Western PAS Wins Absolute Majority in Parliamentary Elections

Moldova's parliamentary elections concluded with a resounding victory for the pro-Western Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), led by Maia Sandu, securing an absolute majority with 56 out of 101 seats. This triumph is seen as a significant step towards Moldova's European integration. The elections, marked by incidents including a bomb threat and cyber attacks, were praised by international leaders like Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina and President Edgars Rinkevics for Moldova's strong democracy and Europe's preference for greater security and prosperity. In response to the election results, Latvia pledged continued support to Moldova on its path towards the European Union. The Party of Action and Solidarity, with its pro-European reform agenda, is now well-positioned to lead Moldova towards this goal. Meanwhile, police detained three individuals planning to cause chaos and disturbances, finding pyrotechnics and flammable materials in their possession. The Party of Action and Solidarity's victory in Moldova's parliamentary elections is a clear mandate for its pro-European policies, allowing the party to form the next government independently. Moldova's commitment to democracy and European integration has been reaffirmed, with the country looking forward to continued international support on its path to the European Union.
