Moers Residents: Winter Road Safety Measures in Place
Moers residents are advised to take extra care on roads this winter, with icy conditions expected in the mornings and evenings from November onwards. The city's winter service team, led by Ulrich Kempken, is well-prepared with a full-scale drill completed at the 'Am Jostenhof' operations depot.
The city has stocked up with around 900 metric tons of salt at the Jostenhof depot, and nine response vehicles stand ready. The team, which includes Enni employees, will maintain Moers' 400-kilometer road network from November through March. They will prioritize main roads, school bus routes, and key bike paths, clearing them twice a day during heavy snowfall.
In addition to roads, the team also tends to pedestrian paths leading to municipal facilities. This includes paths around cemeteries, parks, daycare centers, and schools. An employee will patrol known trouble spots, such as bridges and underpasses, every morning when temperatures drop below three degrees Celsius.
Residents also play a crucial role in winter safety. They are legally obligated to clear sidewalks in front of their properties of ice and snow, as per the Street Cleaning Bylaws. This helps prevent accidents and potential liability issues.
Moers' winter service team is well-equipped and ready to ensure safe roads and paths this winter. Residents are reminded to take care on icy roads and to clear their sidewalks. For any questions about winter services, residents can call Enni's toll-free service number, 0800 222 1040.
