Modi, the Prime Minister, is set to visit Bengaluru the day after tomorrow, with a detailed itinerary revealed and traffic constraints announced.

On August 10, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Karnataka, focusing on significant transportation infrastructure projects in Bengaluru. The day was marked by the flagging off of three Vande Bharat Express trains, the inauguration of the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line (Phase-2), a metro ride, the laying of the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the Bengaluru Metro, and a public address.

The new trains, bound for Belagavi, Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune, aim to enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel time.

Inauguration of the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line (Phase-2)

The Yellow Line, spanning over 19 km with 16 stations from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, was inaugurated at a cost of approximately ₹7,160 crore. This extension adds to Bengaluru’s metro network, extending the operational length to over 96 km.

Following the inauguration, PM Modi undertook a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to the Electronic City metro station on the newly inaugurated Yellow Line.

Laying foundation stone for Bengaluru Metro Phase-3

The foundation stone for Phase-3 of the Bengaluru Metro was laid, with an estimated cost of over ₹15,610 crore. The project includes a total route length of more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations, aiming to improve connectivity across residential, industrial, commercial, and educational areas of Bengaluru.

Public address and urban connectivity project inaugurations

After inaugurating these projects, PM Modi addressed the public function, marking a significant boost to Bengaluru’s urban transport infrastructure, with large-scale metro expansion and enhanced rail connectivity via the Vande Bharat trains.

Traffic Advisory

Due to PM Modi's visit, traffic restrictions will be enforced in Bengaluru from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm on August 10. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes for specific destinations:

  • To reach Banashankari from East End Circle, travel via 29th Main Road, 28th Main Road, Delmia Junction, Outer Ring Road, Sarakki Junction, and Kanakapura Road.
  • For Kanakapura, Mysuru, and Tumakuru roads from Hosur Road, take Jigani Road, Bommasandra Junction, and NICE Road.
  • To reach Sarjapur, Varthur, Whitefield, and Hoskote from Hosur, commuters have been advised to take Dommasandra Road via Chandapura Junction.
  • Those travelling from NICE Road to Hosur Road should exit at Bannerghatta Junction and use Jigani Road and Bommasandra Junction.
  • To access Bannerghatta Road, divert from Sarakki Junction via Outer Ring Road.
  • Within Electronic City Phase 1, commuters are advised to use 2nd Cross Road, Shikaripalya Road, Hulimangala Road, and Gollahalli Road.
  • Motorists should avoid Marenahalli Main Road, Silk Board to Hosur via Electronic City Elevated Flyover, Hosur Road, and several other routes in Bengaluru on August 10.
  • To reach Jayadeva Hospital from Rajalakshmi Junction, commuters can use Sarakki Market Road, 9th Cross Road, IG Circle, and RV Dental Junction.

Connection between India's heartland and regions

The recently dedicated Vande Bharat Express trains are set to strengthen India's railway network, reducing travel time between major cities like Belagavi, Amritsar, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Nagpur (Ajni), and Pune.

Expansion of Bengaluru's public transportation system

The inauguration of the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line (Phase-2) and the planned Phase-3 of the Bengaluru Metro are significant steps in improving urban connectivity in India, serving residential, industrial, commercial, and educational areas, widening the operational network to over 140 km.
