Model from Manchester secured for Love Island by show bosses, days before ITV premiere
Model Shakira Khan, aged 22 and hailing from Manchester, has reportedly landed a spot on ITV's hit reality show, Love Island. The upcoming season is set to commence next month, and Khan is the second female contestant announced for the series.
With an Instagram profile showcasing stunning travel selfies from destinations such as Haiti, Dubai, and New York, Khan isn't shy about flaunting her bikini-clad self. The glamorous model joins the roster after MailOnline revealed that Liverpudlian makeup artist, Lucy Quinn, 20, has also been signed for the new series.
According to a source from The Sun, "Shakira is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and will land a place in Love Island's history books as a real beauty." The source added that the pending cast lineup includes original contestants and potential bombshell entrants, with Khan being a strong possibility for the latter group.
Meanwhile, series host Maya Jama is teasing the series with a fresh trailer that promises "bigger and bolder ideas" than ever before. "This year I want more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups, I want more twists, I want more twists than ever," Jama says in the teaser.
In addition to the summer edition, Love Island is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by inviting past Islanders to share their experiences during a special broadcast. Fitness fan Aaron Buckett, a personal trainer, will also be joining the cast, although it is not yet confirmed if he will debut as an original contestant or as a bombshell.
Last season's winner, Scouser Gabby Allen, has confirmed her appearance on the Love Island anniversary special, reflecting on her runs on the show in 2017 and this year. Other Islanders slated to feature include Cara De La Hoyde, Nathan Massey, Millie Court, and Liam Reardon.
Stay tuned for further updates on the confirmed cast as ITV prepares to reveal the full lineup ahead of the show's launch later this month.
