In Liverpool, England, a 53-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving, following an incident at the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) Premier League champions' parade on Water Street. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. local time on May 26, 2025, left 47 people injured, with 27 hospitalized, with four of the injured still receiving treatment.

The suspect's arrest follows the collision of a vehicle with a crowd shortly after the victory parade began. Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack; they believe the suspect acted alone.

Images captured at the scene showed police cordons along the street, in addition to ambulances and fire engines assisting the injured.

Authorities and LFC have expressed their support for the victims and the emergency services who responded to the incident. The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, called the scenes "appalling."

The temporary lifting of security measures to allow an ambulance through resulted in the incident, as confirmed by additional sources.

Witnesses reported a chaotic scene with people trapped under the vehicle, including a child, and a mother who was dragged on the car's bonnet, fearing for her six-month-old baby in a nearby pram. The pram was pushed down the road.
