MMA Star Dustin Poirier Announces Lil Wayne as His Walkout Music for Retirement Bout against Max Holloway at UFC 318

Dustin Poirier's final walk in the octagon won't just be a solo mission. Kicking things up a notch, the MMA star will be royally flanked by none other than Lil Wayne, a grammys-crushing rapper and fellow Louisiana native, for his farewell brawl against Max Holloway at UFC 318.

Setting the date for July 19, Poirier, a long-time resident of Lafayette, has been eager to have Weezy, a native New Orleanian, by his side at the Smoothie King Center[2]. With some smooth moves and contacts, Poirier has successfully managed to get Wayne involved in his grand finale. According to Poirier's conversations with Wayne's management, they've confirmed that Wayne is currently ironing out the details for their UFC 318 appearance[3].

In true internet fashion, Poirier spilled the beans to Full Violence, stating, "As of right now, his guy, Mack Maine, said he's in. But it's still a good way out. So we'll see. As of right now, yes." Mack Maine, who has been Wayne's affiliate and business partner since 2009, even became the president of Wayne's Young Money Entertainment record label back then[4].

Planning to hang 'em up in his home state, Poirier is more than ready to meet his old rival, Holloway. This will be the third time they face off, with the first encounter happening during Holloway's debut in 2012 when Poirier submitted the future champion[5]. The second fight, which took place in 2019, saw Holloway lose a decision to Poirier for the interim lightweight title[6]. Both fighters are gunning to reclaim the ceremonial BMF title, which Poirier temporarily won back in 2019 but lost to Justin Gaethje last year[7].

Poirier expressed his excitement in April, telling fans, "I'm going to lay my gloves down in Louisiana, where it all started for me. The journey began there. Max is a legend. I said legends only. I couldn't think of a better guy to fight in my retirement fight. I was his first fight in the UFC in 2012, and he'll be my last fight in the UFC."

Get ready for an epic showdown in the Big Easy! With the right tunes and moves, Poirier is ready to conquer the world one final time. For the lovers and the fighters, UFC 318 is set to be an unforgettable night!
