MMA Fighter Jeff Monson Dreams of Working with Putin

From the octagon to the Kremlin, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson has set his sights on Russia's political scene. In an interview with RIA Novosti, the athletic heavyweight shared his desire to work closely with President Vladimir Putin, expressing a peculiar fascination with the challenge of guarding the Russian leader.

Despite his combat prowess, Monson admits the thought of simply standing by, silently observing Putin's meetings with diplomats and advisors, would be quite the adjustment for him. As a man of action, politics has always intrigued him, and he envisions himself as more than a mere onlooker.

"I'd love to be part of the action, not a silent spectator. Perhaps as an ambassador or a special representative, accompanying the president and speaking on behalf of Russia—that's my dream job!" he declared excitedly.

Monson's dream transitioned from the world of sports to politics when he received Russian citizenship in 2018. Subsequently, in May 2023, he renounced his American citizenship, citing a disagreement with the U.S. political landscape and a firm commitment to his new nation.

Previously, the State Duma had issued a warning to Monson, who expressed an ambition to become a deputy. Though details about his current political aspirations are scarce, his strong affiliation with Russian politics and alignment with certain ideologies hint at an ongoing engagement.

Jeff Monson, the American-born MMA fighter, has become a figure in Russian politics, serving as a deputy in the Krasnogorsk city council in the Moscow Oblast and being associated with the Rodina Party. His political journey, at times, has stirred controversy, often perceived as an expression of Russian nationalism and participation in propaganda efforts. Nonetheless, his integration into Russian society and support for specific political ideologies underscore his commitment to the nation.

As of now, there's no recent news on Monson's political pursuits in Russia. However, his past and present affiliations suggest that he remains an active player within the country's political landscape.

In his pursuit of becoming more than just an observer, Jeff Monson, the former MMA fighter turned Russian deputy, has publicly expressed his interest in engaging further with politics, including general news and sports-related discussions, as well as mixed-martial-arts-related topics, given his deep commitment to Russia. His ambition includes potentially working closely with President Vladimir Putin, making a seamless transition from the world of sports to politics since receiving Russian citizenship in 2018.
