MLS Unveils Schedule for the 2023 Season
2023 MLS Season Kicks Off with Excitement
The 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season is set to begin on February 25, marking the inaugural campaign for St. Louis CITY SC. This season promises to be an exciting one, with several new and anticipated matchups.
St. Louis will make their home debut on March 4, hosting Charlotte FC at CITYPARK. Meanwhile, the first match of the season will be between Nashville SC and New York City FC. With the addition of St. Louis, Nashville will rejoin the Eastern Conference.
On May 13, the Southern showdown will take place as Atlanta United faces Charlotte FC, while the New York Red Bulls will play New York City FC at the same time. The California Clásico will also take place on May 14 between LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes.
The 2023 MLS season will see the debut of MLS Season Pass, a subscription service that will stream every MLS match. Starting February 1, fans can subscribe to MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app for $14.99 per month during the season or $99 per season. Apple TV+ subscribers can sign up at a special price of $12.99 per month and $79 per season. A subscription to MLS Season Pass will be included with each full-season ticket account.
The MLS regular season will pause from July 16 to August 19 for Leagues Cup play, a Concacaf-sanctioned tournament featuring all 47 MLS and Liga MX clubs. Some MLS and Leagues Cup matches will be available at no additional cost to Apple TV+ subscribers.
The 2023 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19, at Audi Field. The opponent will be announced at a later date. Rivalry Week from May 13-20 will also feature intense rivalry matchups.
MLS will pause during the October and November FIFA international windows. Some MLS clubs have elected to play during the June and September FIFA international window. The season will conclude with MLS Decision Day 2023 on October 21, with all teams playing intraconference opponents. Kickoff times will be announced at a later date.
Fans can follow their favorite MLS clubs through My Sports on the Apple TV app to get alerts before upcoming games, follow scores in real time, and more. Through Family Sharing, up to six family members can share the subscription using their own Apple ID and password.
The 14 Western Conference teams will play 26 games against intraconference opponents, 1-2 games against additional intraconference opponents, 6-7 games against different cross-conference opponents, and possibly one extra game against an intraconference opponent. The 15 Eastern Conference teams will play 28 games against intraconference opponents, 6 games against six different cross-conference opponents, and 1-2 games against additional intraconference opponents.
The season will also see a rematch of the 2022 MLS Cup as the Philadelphia Union face LAFC on September 23. Seattle Sounders FC will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, with match dates and times yet to be confirmed.
