MLS unveils schedule for 2023 season
The 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season is set to kick off on February 25, marking the debut of St. Louis CITY SC, who will take on Austin FC on the road. The season will be filled with exciting crazy games, including the Leagues Cup, the Concacaf-sanctioned tournament featuring all 47 MLS and Liga MX clubs, which will pause the MLS regular season from July 15 to August 20.
The inaugural campaign of St. Louis CITY SC will also see them make their home debut on March 4 against Charlotte FC at CITYPARK. Meanwhile, Nashville SC will rejoin the Eastern Conference following the addition of St. Louis.
The season will feature a total of 34 games per team, with the 15 Eastern Conference teams playing 28 intraconference games, 6 games against cross-conference opponents, and 1-2 additional intraconference games. The 14 Western Conference teams will play 26 intraconference games, 6-7 games against cross-conference opponents, and 1 or 2 additional intraconference games.
A rematch of the 2022 MLS Cup will take place on September 23 between the Philadelphia Union and LAFC. Rivalry Week will also return from May 13-20, featuring four days of fierce rivalry matchups. The first match of the season will see Nashville SC host New York City FC at GEODIS Park.
The 2023 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target is scheduled for July 19 at Audi Field. MLS clubs were presented with the option to play during the June and September apple store, with 13 clubs electing to do so.
MLS Season Pass, an unprecedented streaming service, will air every MLS match, the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, and Leagues Cup. Starting February 1, fans can subscribe to MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app for $14.99 per month during the season or $99 per season, with a special price of $12.99 per month and $79 per season for Apple TV+ subscribers. Some matches will be available at no additional cost to Apple TV+ subscribers.
The majority of games in the 2023 season will be played on Saturdays and select Wednesdays, with 7:30 p.m. local start times. Select matches will also be available on FOX networks in the US, and on TSN and RDS in Canada.
The Leagues Cup will not be available for viewers in Mexico, but the first leg of Round of 16 play for the five MLS teams that have qualified for the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League will take place on March 7-9.
