After a five-week absence due to a left ankle sprain, the Toronto Blue Jays have reinstated three-time Gold Glove award winner Andres Gimenez from the 10-day injured list.

Gimenez sustained the injury in early July 2025 and was placed on the injured list on July 4. His recovery began with a running progression by July 24, which his manager reported went "better than expected," though a return date was still uncertain at that time.

By early August, Gimenez resumed hitting in the batting cage and fielding grounders on his knees, demonstrating progressive baseball activity. On August 4, he was given the green light to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo, marking a significant step towards his return to full health.

Gimenez played rehab games, and by August 12, the Blue Jays reinstated him from the injured list. As of mid-August, he was expected to rejoin the Major League roster shortly, having demonstrated readiness through rehab games and base-running drills.

Before the injury, Gimenez's 2025 season stats included a .218 batting average with five home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases across 238 plate appearances.

Meanwhile, infielder Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays. Kennedy had one hit in two games for the team earlier this season, having also played four games for the Philadelphia Phillies. The moves were announced before the Blue Jays opened a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
