Mizrachi comes out victorious, Negreanu claims the hot seat on Day 1B of the Main Tournament

Day 1B of the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event saw a strong showing from some of the game's top players, with Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth among those advancing to Day 2ABC.

Negreanu, a poker legend who has not missed the first hand of the Main Event since 1998, had a solid day, cracking aces early and chipping up throughout the evening. He bagged up with an impressive 122,000 chips at the end of the day, positioning himself well for the next stages. However, the bright lights and temperature changes at the feature table caused some discomfort, leading Negreanu to express a desire to avoid the TV tables in the future.

Hellmuth, the 15-time WSOP bracelet winner, arrived late for Day 1B but managed to turn things around, increasing his chip stack to 85,000 by the end of the day. In a notable hand, Hellmuth won a pot with pocket queens against Yukako Horai.

Michael Mizrachi led the way, finishing Day 1B with one of the top stacks, boasting an impressive 297,000 chips. Other notable players advancing to Day 2ABC include Nick Rigby, Nick Marchington, Yuri Dzivielevski, Mike Matusow, and Eugene Katchalov.

The remaining players will face off against survivors from flights A and C on Sunday to secure a spot on Day 3. A total of 1,096 entries were recorded for Day 1B, outpacing the 2024 event. The number of entries for the Main Event continues to break records, with 10,112 entries recorded in 2023.
