Mizoram's Thenzawl launches 'Peace City' push with new infrastructure drive

Mizoram's Thenzawl is set for major development as part of a push to transform the area into a 'Peace City'. Chief Minister Lalduhoma recently inaugurated the new Thenzawl PWD Road Division, marking a key step in the region's growth plans. The move comes alongside efforts to improve infrastructure and administrative efficiency across the state. The newly formed Thenzawl Division, along with the Biate Sub-Division, aims to streamline governance and speed up development. Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the need for a stronger workforce and better administrative capacity to handle the rising number of projects. Mizoram currently lags behind the national road density average, with just 46.37 km per 100 sq. km compared to India's 116 km per 100 sq. km.

The establishment of the Thenzawl PWD Road Division is expected to boost connectivity and infrastructure. Several initiatives, including tourism projects and riverfront development, are either planned or underway. The Chief Minister urged PWD officials to work with commitment, stressing their role in shaping Mizoram's future.

Additionally, a Greenfield City Project under the Smart and Sustainable City Initiative (SASCI) has been proposed for Thenzawl. The state government is also preparing a Master Plan to guide the area's development as a model 'Peace City'. The new PWD division and ongoing projects signal a period of rapid change for Thenzawl. With improved road networks and administrative structures, the region is poised for faster progress. The Chief Minister's emphasis on dedication and efficiency underscores the importance of these efforts in Mizoram's long-term growth.
