Mixtape Release: 'Fancy That' by PinkPantheress Makes a Comeback

Hey there! Let's chat about the rising star in the pop music world, PinkPantheress. Since bursting onto the scene just a few years back, she's scaled the Billboard Hot 100 and released a series of projects, including her latest sophomore mixtape, "Fancy That".

In her latest outing, PinkPantheress keeps pushing her boundaries, incorporating fresh influences into her signature bedroom pop sound. Tracks like "Girl Like Me" and "Nice to Know You" delve into the rollercoaster ride that is relationships, while "Noises" and "Romeo" offer an opportunity to dance and have a good time. She even pays homage to her earlier work on "Stars" by sampling Just Jack's 2007 release "Starz in Their Eyes", as she did on her 2021 hit, "Attracted to You".

To create the perfect party vibe, PinkPantheress drew inspiration from classic British dance and electronic acts like Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, and Fatboy Slim. She told Mixmag that she was captivated by the grand, statement-making quality of these artists' music. PinkPantheress wanted to infuse her songs with that same sense of scale and presence.

Looking at PinkPantheress's place in the music world, she's got a one-of-a-kind sound and an approach to fame that's true to herself. She's not letting external opinions cloud her vision. In her words, "A lot of my career has been people telling me their perception of me rather than me saying who I am. Being a 'popstar' or being in the public eye can definitely make you lose yourself. I am somebody who knows myself down to the bone, but I'm telling you, being a singer makes it so easy to think about what people think or want to hear, and it makes you lose elements of your beginnings."

Now, as for her musical influences, she’s got a diverse mix going on. With roots in Bath, England, and later moving to Kent and South London, she combines pop-punk and emo vibes from bands like Green Day and Paramore with dance and house elements. Her music often features samples and interpretations from the 2000s dance pop era, like Just Jack's "Stars in Their Eyes", and the indie dance crossover tracks. Her work is a unique blend of nostalgia and modern production, reflecting the ever-evolving cultural and musical landscape.
