Mitski interprets Pete Townshend's 'Let My Love Open the Door' for the 'A Big Bold Beautiful Journey' soundtrack
Prepare for an exciting cinematic experience as two highly anticipated releases are set to hit screens soon.
Directed by Kogonada, the fantasy romance film "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey" promises an enchanting storyline, with stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell leading the cast. The film's soundtrack, scored by Joe Hisaishi, includes four tracks by Laufey, one original number, and three covers. Among these covers, Mitski's rendition of Pete Townshend's "Let My Love Open the Door" stands out, offering a minimalist take on the 1980 hit.
In a separate venture, Mitski is set to release her new live film, The Land, in cinemas worldwide. Filmed over three nights at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta last September, this project was mixed by Mitski's long-standing producer, Patrick Hyland. An official synopsis for The Land reads: "Mitski: The Land converts the magic and majesty of witnessing Mitski live onto screen."
The Land will be released exclusively at 630 cinemas across 30 countries. Fans who register will receive updates on locations and showtimes at a later date. Tickets for "Mitski: The Land" go on sale next Monday (September 15).
The film "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey" has received a mixed reception, with NME awarding it two stars. Critics have compared the film to "a mildly diverting pitstop", a "slightly awkward first date where the fitfully interesting moments aren't enough to convince you that you've actually had a great time", and "not quite charming, not quite moving, and not quite compelling." Despite this, the stellar efforts of Farrell and Robbie have not gone unnoticed.
On the other hand, Mitski's The Land is expected to captivate audiences with its raw energy and emotional depth. The covers included in the film, such as 'Let's Dream In The Moonlight', 'Winter Wonderland', and 'But Beautiful', are sure to add another layer of enchantment to the experience.
Stay tuned for more updates on these two exciting releases!
