Missile strike in eastern Poland under investigation
In the small village of Wyryki, eastern Poland, a sudden and unexpected event unfolded when a malfunctioning Polish F-16 missile struck a home. Initially, Polish officials reported that the home had been hit by a Russian drone, but subsequent investigations have revealed this to be false.
The National Security Bureau (BBN) is currently responsible for investigating the incident. The Ministry of Defence is providing regular updates to the BBN on the ongoing investigation. However, the exact official report on the Wyryki incident is still pending, with Polish prosecutors currently analysing the remains of the unknown flying object involved.
Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has emphasized that military and security services are carrying out their work as normal. He has also dismissed allegations of a cover-up in the incident involving the malfunctioning Polish F-16 missile.
The public is demanding accurate and reliable information about the incident, as stated by the BBN. Unfortunately, as of now, the President of the Republic of Poland, according to the BBN, is still awaiting a precise report on the incident in Wyryki.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has made a statement regarding the incident on a social media platform, stating that Russia bears responsibility for the damage to the home in Wyryki. However, he has not made any new statements regarding the incident or the responsibility of Russia, as far as the information provided.
The missile did not detonate due to its internal safety systems functioning correctly, as stated earlier. This is a relief for the affected community, but the incident has undoubtedly caused concern and uncertainty.
The Polish daily Rzeczpospolita reported this incident, citing unnamed security sources. However, the BBN has stated that they had not received an official government report prior to the publication of Rzeczpospolita's article.
As the investigations continue, the public and the President await the official report, which will be transmitted to them once the ongoing investigations are completed. The exact delivery date for this report has not been announced yet.
