An 80-year-old woman was rescued alive on Thursday after being trapped for days under a tree trunk in the Egge Mountains near Willebadessen, Ostwestfalen. Police, a helicopter, and tracking dogs were involved in the search, which ended successfully with the woman found severely hypothermic but conscious.
The woman, who was likely out looking for mushrooms, had been missing for days. Relatives raised the alarm, leading to a large-scale search operation. She was discovered about 250 meters off a hiking trail, on a steep slope, with a tree trunk pinning her down. The rescue team worked swiftly to free her and provide immediate medical care.
The woman's age and the duration of her ordeal made the rescue particularly challenging. Despite the severity of her condition, she was found alive, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the search and rescue team.
