In a closely contested match, the West Side Hawaii Little League's minors team faced off against Pearl City Little League in the state final of the 2025 Little League Baseball Tournament. Despite a valiant effort, Kona unfortunately lost the game with a score of 8-2.

Leading the charge for Kona was Jordan Taketa, who contributed two hits to the team's total of seven. Taketa's teammates, Ocean Salmo, Reign Lanning, Noah Lee, Paxton Griffey, and Dane Kennedy each added one hit to the tally.

Taketa and Westin Cherry shared pitching duties for Kona, recording a combined total of six strikeouts. Their efforts, however, were not enough to secure the win.

The game took place on Oahu on Wednesday, marking the end of a successful tournament run for Kona's minors team. Despite the loss in the state final, Kona finished the tournament with more wins than losses, having recorded a 3-2 record.

Prior to the state final, Kona's minors team had impressive results in the 50/70 West Region Tournament, where they won several games with high scores. In the Little League Small West Region Tournament, they secured a close victory over Southern California and advanced wins in the main West Region Tournament in early August 2025.

These results illustrate West Side Hawaii’s competitive performance in the 2025 minors state and regional tournaments. Although the state final did not end in their favour, the team can be proud of their achievements throughout the tournament.

Sports was the center of attention for Kona's minors team as they competed in the state final of the 2025 Little League Baseball Tournament against Pearl City Little League. Regrettably, the team's chosen sport, football, was not part of the tournament; instead, they displayed their baseball skills, with Jordan Taketa leading the team with two hits.
