Minnesota Lynx Shatter WNBA Road Victory Record with Historic 53-Point Win

The Minnesota Lynx have etched their name in WNBA history, setting the all-time largest road victory record with a staggering 53-point margin over the Las Vegas Aces. The final score was 111-58, a result that surpassed the previous record held by the Houston Comets from 1998.

The game, played on August 2, 2025, saw the Lynx dominate from the very beginning. By the end of the first quarter, they led 35-17, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

Key contributions came from Kayla McBride, who scored a game-high 24 points, hitting an impressive 8-of-10 three-pointers. The team's defensive and offensive execution was also commendable, playing a significant role in the historic margin.

Star player Napheesa Collier, who averages 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals throughout the 2025 season, contributed 18 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals before leaving the game due to a right ankle injury. Despite her absence, the team maintained their dominance.

Jessica Shepard, who returned to the WNBA for the 2025 season after missing the 2024 season, had an impressive debut. She posted a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, and had a +46 plus/minus. She also joined Minnesota alums Plenette Pierson, Sylvia Fowles, and Maya Moore to have the highest efficiency in a game in WNBA history.

As the Lynx prepare for their next game against the Seattle Storm on the road on Tuesday, speculation continues about whether Boston is ready for a WNBA franchise.

Collier, who was named the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-WNBA First Team in the 2024 season, will undoubtedly be a key player to watch, whenever she returns from her injury.
