One of the key signings is Johnny Juzang, who played last season with the Utah Jazz and showed career-high averages, including 8.9 points per game. Juzang's field goal percentage was 42.9%, three-point percentage was 37.6%, and free-throw percentage was 84.9% in the 2024-25 season. The Timberwolves signed Juzang to a one-year deal, securing him a roster spot without the need for intense competition during training camp.
Alongside Juzang, the Timberwolves signed Enrique Freeman to a two-way contract. Freeman, a forward who impressed during Summer League play, is poised to contribute as an important bench player and developmental piece. Freeman was the No. 50 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers but did not have a standard contract with the Timberwolves prior to this signing.
The Timberwolves opened up a two-way slot by waiving Jesse Edwards. With Freeman's addition, the Timberwolves still have two two-way contract slots filled.
Freeman spent his rookie season playing on a two-way contract with the Pacers, where he finished his final game of the 2023-24 season with eight points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one blocked shot. Juzang, on the other hand, had a two-way contract with the Jazz for the 2023-24 season, which was converted to a standard deal for the 2024-25 season.
The Timberwolves' offseason roster moves also include the signing of Joan Beringer, a promising but raw prospect from Cedevita Olimpija, selected with the 17th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The team re-signed Julius Randle and Naz Reid, maintaining the majority of the previous season's Western Conference Finals team intact.
