Ministryof Sport Official Opens New Local Sports Field in Elbingerode

In the picturesque town of Elbingerode, nestled within the Upper Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt, a new sports facility has been unveiled. The Green-White Winter Sports Club Elbingerode e. V. is now the proud owner of a state-of-the-art, multifunctional small field sports facility, courtesy of a substantial financial contribution from the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The sports facility, inaugurated today in the presence of Sports Minister Dr. Tamara Zieschang, covers an area of 20 x 13 meters and boasts an asphalt playing field and a surrounding paved area. The facility, built at the Brocken, is designed for the sports of football, volleyball, and basketball.

Equipped with LED floodlights, the sports facility allows members to pursue their sporting passion until late in the evening. This feature, combined with the climatic conditions in the Harz, means that club members can train on the field with ski rollers and inline skates, offering a unique training opportunity.

The planning and construction of the new facility were carried out by the architecture firm Planungsgruppe Oberharz. The state of Saxony-Anhalt provided over 104,000 euros in financial support for the new construction. The inauguration of the sports facility was documented by the Ministry of the Interior and Sport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt on 19 September 2025.

The sports facility provides more space for physical activity and a new training opportunity for its members. Operated by the Green-White Winter Sports Club Elbingerode e. V., the facility offers a chance for local residents to engage in various sports activities, fostering a sense of community and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

With this new facility, Elbingerode's sports enthusiasts now have a modern, well-equipped space to call their own, enhancing the town's reputation as a hub for sports and physical activity in the Upper Harz region.
