In the ongoing efforts to navigate the current situation, several significant decisions have been made regarding schools and examinations in Kathmandu.

The National Examinations Board (NEB) has announced a postponement of the resumption of Class 12 exams, with Rajesh Kumar, the head of the NEA, leading these decisions. The exact date for the resumption of regular classes for schools in Kathmandu Metropolitan City is yet to be determined, but according to the Private and Boarding Schools' Organization Nepal (PABSON), classes will resume only from Sunday.

School operators have reported that reopening schools before Sunday is not possible, with most operators stating that they are unable to do so. This decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Meanwhile, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has announced the closure of all institutions under its authority until further notice. This decision, like many others, is a response to the prevailing circumstances and aims to mitigate any potential risks.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has also announced that classes will remain suspended until further review, with a possible reopening decision after Thursday. The City's Education Department will make further decisions regarding reopening schools after reviewing the situation.

PABSON has granted school operators the autonomy to decide independently whether to open or keep schools closed, depending on local conditions. This approach allows for a more flexible and responsive approach to the unique challenges faced by different areas.

In related news, the NEB has postponed the supplementary examinations for Grade 12 students, which were scheduled for Bhadra 28 and 29. A new exam schedule will be published by the NEB once the situation becomes normal.

These decisions underscore the collective commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff while also maintaining the continuity of education to the best of our abilities. As always, we encourage everyone to stay informed and follow the guidance of local authorities.
