Bill Gates Blames Elon Musk for Millions of Children's Deaths due to US Aid Cuts

Millions of children facing potential death due to Musk's financial reductions - Millions of children perish due to Musk's budget trimming, according to Gates.

Forget the spaceships and electric cars, billionaire tech boss Elon Musk has entered another controversial arena - global health. Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is accusing Musk, in no uncertain terms, of contributing to the deaths of millions of children due to his involvement in drastic cuts to US aid programs.

In an interview with the "New York Times," Gates described the cuts, particularly to USAID, as "staggering." He anticipates the number of children dying annually in poor countries to skyrocket from five to six million if no changes are made. If these cuts hadn't occurred, Gates believes the number would have declined to four million deaths in the near future.

"Millions more children will die because of these cuts, and Musk is the one who pulled the plug on USAID funding," Gates stated, emphasizing Musk's role in the matter. Musk retorted on his online platform X, dismissing Gates' accusations with a simple, "Gates is a huge liar."

Putting USAID Through the Wringer

Musk, who helms companies like Tesla, showed his support for then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2020, contributing over $250 million to his campaign. After Trump's presidency, Musk was tasked with reducing government spending. Musk infamously described USAID as being "in the wood chipper," during a discussion on X.

"The richest man in the world is causally involved in the deaths of the poorest children in the world," Gates lamented. Musk's net worth is estimated at over $300 billion, making him one of the richest individuals on the planet. Despite his wealth, Musk has yet to demonstrate significant philanthropic efforts, in contrast to Gates, who has donated large portions of his wealth to charitable causes.

Though Musk has pledged to donate to charitable causes through "The Giving Pledge," initiated by Gates and investor Warren Buffett, Gates remains skeptical. "Who knows? He could still become a great philanthropist," Gates speculated.

Bill Gates himself has been active in charity work, committing a significant portion of his wealth to his foundation in recent years. Just recently, he announced that the Gates Foundation plans to spend nearly its entire $200 billion wealth over the next 20 years.
