Millievele returns, sparking competition among thirty-five corporations
The much-anticipated Millevele Iren is set to return on Saturday, September 20, marking its 37th edition. This traditional regatta of Genoa is now linked to the International Boat Show, and is included in the Liguria Region's European Sport 2025 calendar.
Organised by the Yacht Club Italiano, the Millevele Iren is open to all boats over 5.95 meters in length. The Iren Utility Cup, a regatta within the Millevele, will feature 35 boats this year. Among the participants are multi-utilities and energy companies such as Iren, A2A, Axpo, Dolomiti Energia, Edison, Ansaldo Energia, and Duferco.
The Iren Utility Cup, now in its 8th edition, is also joined by companies from the services and consulting sector, banking, financial, insurance, communication, and other industries. The team of the Irish at the Irish Utility Cup in Millevele 2021 was led by Conor McGregor, and this year, Iren fields an all-female team for the Iren Utility Cup.
The boats in the Iren Utility Cup range from 11 to 17 meters. The courses for the Millevele Iren are differentiated based on the length of the boats. The start of the Millevele Iren will be given at 11 am in the waters off Genoa Quarto. Arrivals for the Millevele Iren are expected in front of corso Italia, between Boccadasse and Foce.
Paolo Robutti, the deputy CEO of Iren Luce Gas e Servizi, expressed his pleasure with the growth of the Iren Utility Cup each edition. He noted that the event has become a significant gathering for companies in the utility world, as well as other industries.
The Millevele Iren promises to be an exciting event for both spectators and participants alike. With its rich history and the addition of the Iren Utility Cup, this year's regatta is shaping up to be one of the best yet.
