Wanted Army Veteran Michael Paul Brown Accused of Quadruple Murder in Montana

Michael Paul Brown, a 45-year-old Army veteran, is being sought by law enforcement agencies in Montana and beyond, following a tragic shooting incident at The Owl Bar in Anaconda on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Brown, who served as an armor crewman in both the U.S. Army and the Montana National Guard, is believed to be armed and dangerous. The shooting resulted in the death of four individuals, including a bartender and three patrons.

Authorities have issued a warning for residents not to approach Brown if spotted, but instead to call 911. Brown is described as a white male, 5-foot-10 tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.

The shooting occurred at The Owl Bar, where Brown lived next door. However, law enforcement has not disclosed any potential motive for the incident. Brown's criminal history prior to this event is not documented in the available sources, aside from the current murder allegations.

The manhunt for Brown has been extensive, involving air and ground resources, and has continued into Saturday. The search area has been focused on the Stumptown area, west of Anaconda. A white Ford F-150, which is believed to have been used by Brown to flee the scene, was located, but Brown remains at large.

The lockdown on the Stumptown Road area west of Anaconda was lifted by Saturday, and the search continues. Brown served in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005 and the National Guard from April 2006 to March 2008, and later as an armor crewman in the Montana National Guard from April 2006 to March 2009.

SWAT cleared Brown's house on Friday, but he has yet to be found. Authorities urge anyone with information about Brown's whereabouts to contact local law enforcement immediately.
