Military operations in Gaza intensify, forcing residents to evacuate their homes

In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza, a displaced father, Sami Baroud, has stated that he cannot afford the journey to evacuate, highlighting the financial hardships faced by many residents.

Nearly two years after the Hamas incursion on Israel, 47 hostages remain in Gaza, underscoring the prolonged nature of the crisis. The Israeli retaliatory campaign has claimed at least 65,141 Palestinian lives, according to figures from Gaza's health ministry.

Amidst the chaos, residents like Umm Mohammed al-Hattab continue to live in tents after their homes were bombed, with the bombing showing no signs of stopping. Israel has closed Salah al-Din Road, Gaza's main north-south artery, and urged civilians to evacuate southwest through Al-Rashid coastal road.

The head of the Israeli military spokesperson, Avichai Adraee, has called on the civilian population in Gaza City to flee immediately to so-called humanitarian zones further south, such as the area around Al-Mawasi and Deir al-Balah. He assured that families moving south would receive extensive humanitarian aid, and that spacious free areas were available there for resettlement.

However, the call to evacuate has become nearly impossible for many families due to high transport costs and constant shelling. Aya Ahmed, a resident of Gaza City, described the bombing never stopping and evacuation being difficult due to lack of resources.

The situation in Gaza has sparked international concern, with several Western governments, including France and Britain, preparing to recognize a Palestinian state during the upcoming UN summit. Navi Pillay, who led the UN investigation, compared the situation to the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

Spain has announced it will open an inquiry into human rights violations to support the International Criminal Court. The United Nations has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, a claim Israel has rejected as "distorted and false."

The conflict has taken a devastating toll on civilians. Famine in Gaza has claimed hundreds of lives, including 147 children. Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza received 20 bodies on Friday alone. In Deir al-Balah and Nuseirat, strikes tore through civilian gatherings, leaving several dead. In Khan Younis, two children were killed when Israeli shelling hit a displacement tent.

In Rafah, Palestinians waiting for food aid were shot at near the Shakoush area, highlighting concerns about Israel's "humanitarian aid points" being dangerous. Shadi Jawad, a resident of Gaza City, described a desperate trek out of the city due to the military incursion and evacuation orders.

As the crisis continues, the international community is urged to take action to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza.
