Military operation in West Bank, Israeli forces discover a multitude of weapons in Judea and Samaria regions
In the heart of July and August 2025, a series of coordinated counterterrorism operations were carried out in Israel's Central Command region by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Security Agency (ISA), and Israel Police. The primary objective of these operations was to neutralise militant threats and seize illegal weapons, marking a significant step in strengthening security in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank.
The joint efforts of these security forces led to the confiscation of approximately 30 illegal weapons, including "Carlo" type submachine guns, handguns, and hunting rifles - weapons commonly used by terrorist cells in the area.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts to bolster security in the West Bank and prepare for potential escalations, including prisoner-related contingencies. The IDF Central Command has intensified defensive measures and continued regular raids aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing terror attacks.
This campaign mirrors a strategic approach seen in larger operations like "Iron Wall", which targeted Palestinian militant groups earlier in 2025, aiming to preserve Israeli security and freedom of action in the region.
The recent counterterrorism activities have been fruitful, with significant discoveries made across the Central Command sector. In the village of Al-Ram, within the Binyamin Regional Brigade, a hunting rifle was located. The Judea and Etzion regional brigades uncovered two 'Carlo' type weapons and various weapon parts. Meanwhile, in the Menashe Regional Brigade, seven weapons were confiscated.
During a battalion-level activity in Anabta, within the Ephraim Regional Brigade, several weapons were seized. In Odala, under the Samaria Regional Brigade, a handgun and additional combat equipment were found.
The thwarted activities involved the production, smuggling, and possession of illegal weapons. This week, the troops have successfully disrupted terrorist activities throughout the Central Command region.
The ongoing operations in the Central Command region continue, with the IDF, ISA, and Israel Police working together to maintain security and peace for the citizens of Israel.
- The successful seizure of illegal weapons, such as Carlo type submachine guns and handguns, in various brigades like Binyamin, Judea and Etzion, Menashe, Ephraim, and Samaria, suggests a broader issue of arms trafficking within the context of war-and-conflicts and crime-and-justice.
- As the ongoing operations in the Central Command region demonstrate, addressing war-and-conflicts and maintaining peace requires constant efforts in politics, including managing prisoner-related contingencies and furtive attempts at arms trafficking, as seen in the seizure of weapons in al-Ram, Anabta, and Odala.
