Military officials in Israel confirm they targeted and eliminated suspected Hamas militants following a recent kidnapping incident in Bibas.
In a significant development, the Israeli military claimed to have killed a Hamas terrorist involved in the brutal massacre at kibbutz Nir Oz in October 2023. The operation, carried out jointly with the Shin Bet internal security service on August 10, was in response to the devastating attack that claimed the lives of over 1,200 Israelis, including women, children, and the elderly.
The terrorist, who was a member of Hamas' military wing, was reportedly involved in the kidnapping of Jarden Bibas, the sole survivor of his family. Tragically, Bibas's mother, Shiri, and their two young sons were among the victims of the massacre. The family held German citizenship.
Bibas, who was abducted on October 7, 2023, was released during a ceasefire in February. He has since expressed gratitude to the military for the killing of his family's captor. "I can close a little chapter with the kidnapper's death," he said.
Hamas, however, disputes the Israeli account, claiming that Bibas's family died in an Israeli air strike. The terrorist, they assert, entered kibbutz Nir Oz during the massacre.
The Hamas terrorist's death is a significant blow to the militant group, but the search for over 200 remaining hostages continues. The statement indicates that efforts to apprehend participants in the massacre will continue until all hostages are safely returned. The fate of these hostages remains a central issue in the ongoing conflict and negotiations.
The massacre in Gaza was a coordinated attack by Hamas militants and other Palestinian armed groups. They breached multiple points in Israel’s security fence, using tactics such as paragliders, and carried out mass killings, torture, sexual violence, mutilations, and abductions. The attack was highly violent and included systematic sexual assaults and mutilations at multiple sites, with the Nova Festival being a notable location of extreme atrocities.
As the search for the remaining hostages continues, the international community remains concerned about their well-being. For the most updated status, direct government or credible news sources should be consulted.
