Fuel Prices in Malaysia for August 14-20, 2025
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced the latest fuel prices in Malaysia for the week of August 14 to 20, 2025, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM). Here's a breakdown of the prices:
- RON97: RM 3.13 per litre (a decrease of 4 sen from the previous week)
- RON95: RM 2.05 per litre (ceiling price unchanged since February 2021)
- Diesel (Peninsular Malaysia): RM 2.90 per litre (decrease of 4 sen)
- Diesel (East Malaysia): RM 2.15 per litre (unchanged)
These prices will take effect from midnight on August 13 and will remain in place until the next announcement on August 20, 2025.
The price adjustments for RON95 petrol, RON97 petrol, and diesel are based on the weekly retail pricing of petroleum products using the APM formula. This formula adjusts fuel prices weekly based on market factors to balance subsidy costs and market realities.
The retail price of RON97 petrol in Peninsular Malaysia has been reduced by four sen, now set at RM3.13 per litre for Aug 14 to 20. The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia is also lower, at RM2.90 per litre for the same period.
However, the retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will remain at RM2.15 per litre for Aug 14 to 20.
The RON95 price remains fixed by government subsidy at RM 2.05 per litre, with plans to eventually reduce it further to RM 1.99 per litre when targeted subsidies are implemented, expected to be detailed by late September 2025.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) will continue to monitor global oil price trends to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people.
