Military officials apprehended for suspected involvement in a RM5 million smuggling operation in southern Malaysia
In a shocking incident, the 12-year-old son of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, the Pandan MP, was stabbed with a syringe by two unidentified men in a Putrajaya shopping centre car park on August 13, 2025.
According to reports from Malaysiakini, the boy is currently in stable condition and under hospital observation. The substance injected has not yet been identified as police are awaiting laboratory test results.
The attack, which occurred in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is believed to have been premeditated, with the attackers reportedly dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets, waiting for the "right moment" to strike.
Initial hospital tests ruled out drugs or poison in the boy's blood, but doctors will observe him for six months for any delayed effects.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for a swift and transparent investigation, condemning the attack and threats as unacceptable in Malaysia.
Investigations are exploring links to Rafizi Ramli’s political activities, with the MP suggesting the attack was a warning to silence him following his exposure of sensitive issues. Police have traced a threatening message sent to Rafizi’s wife after the attack, which has been linked to a foreign number.
As of August 22, 2025, no official statement has been issued regarding the incident, and the identity of the attacker or attackers remains unknown. The authorities have yet to disclose the nature of the substance injected and have not apprehended the suspects.
The latest updates on this developing story will be shared as more information becomes available.
