Military Official Announces Initiation of Operations for Seizing Gaza Control
In a significant development, the Israeli army has begun preparatory measures for the takeover of the city of Gaza. This move comes after the Israeli security cabinet agreed to a plan for the operation at the beginning of August.
The conflict, which began almost two years ago, has forced nearly all residents of the coastal strip to become internal refugees. The civilian population in Gaza City, estimated to be around one million people, are now facing the possibility of relocation to tent quarters further in the south of the coastal strip, according to the Israeli military's plan.
The exact details of the plan for the takeover of Gaza have not been disclosed, but it is known that the schedule for the conquest of the last terrorist strongholds and the defeat of Hamas is being accelerated, according to Netanyahu's office. The order to mobilize around 60,000 reservists was issued by the Israeli Chief of General Staff in early September as part of preparations for further military actions in the Gaza conflict.
The Gaza war was triggered by an attack by Hamas and other Islamic groups on Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of around 1,200 people and the taking of more than 250 hostages into the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military operation has reportedly weakened Hamas, with Defrin, the military spokesperson, stating that the organization has developed into a battered and weakened guerrilla group.
The Israeli army has already occupied the outskirts of the largest city in the Gaza Strip. Media reports suggest that the residents of Gaza may be evacuated to refugee camps in the center of the sealed-off Gaza Strip by the beginning of October. The aim of the Israeli military is to end the dependence of the population on Hamas.
The Israeli military intends to further exacerbate the damage to Hamas in Gaza, which is considered a stronghold of state and military terror of the terrorist organization. The civilian population is advised to stay away from active combat zones, and Defrin has announced that the military would warn the civilian population and enable their evacuation to keep the danger for the people as low as possible.
More than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war almost two years ago, according to the Palestinian health authority. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered to accelerate the takeover of the city of Gaza, but it is currently unclear when the ground offensive in Gaza will begin.
As the situation continues to evolve, it is crucial to monitor developments closely and ensure the safety and well-being of all civilians involved.
