His Majesty the King is closely monitoring the tense situation at the Thai-Cambodian border, with daily updates about the conflict being delivered directly to him through his staff. This was revealed by Lt Gen Boonsin Padklang during a special lecture at Kasetsart University's Demonstration School.
Lt Gen Padklang, a key figure in Thailand's defense, emphasized his duty to defend Thailand's sovereignty and pledged to respond swiftly and decisively against any threats. Under the King's guidance, Thai troops are prepared to sacrifice their lives in defense of the country.
The current status of the border conflict is precarious. After intense clashes escalated on July 24, 2025, resulting in artillery fire, airstrikes, and significant displacement of civilians, both countries agreed to a temporary ceasefire brokered by Malaysia and the U.S. However, the ceasefire's durability is uncertain due to entrenched nationalist politics, historical grievances, and mutual distrust.
The conflict centered around territorial disputes near the Preah Vihear Temple remains a volatile and sensitive flashpoint. Both sides have not fully accepted third-party mediation, with Thailand insisting on bilateral talks only, despite international offers to facilitate dialogue.

When asked about his actions in the event of another invasion, Lt Gen Padklang confidently replied that he would do the same as he did against the Cambodian invaders. He even stated that he would not hesitate to use F-16s in defense of the country.
