Israel Issues Evacuation Warning for Three Ports in Yemen

The Israeli army has ordered the evacuation of three ports in Yemen - Ras Isa Port, Hodeidah Port, and Al-Salif Port - due to their alleged use in supporting "terrorist activities" against Israel, according to a statement made by the army's Arabic spokesperson, Colonel Avichay Adraee, on Wednesday.

In a warning communicated to personnel present at the ports, Adraee urged them to leave immediately for their own safety until further notice, citing the Iran-backed Houthi rebels' misuse of the installations for offensive operations against the Israeli state.

The Israeli military's call to evacuate comes in response to repeated missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthis towards Israeli targets. In recent months, several attacks have reportedly targeted Ben Gurion International Airport and other strategic locations within Israel.

In a series of targeted airstrikes earlier this month, Israel responded to a missile attack by the Houthis on May 5, striking the Red Sea port city of Hodeida. Following the attack on Hodeida port, the Israeli military also targeted Sanaa International Airport and Sanaa's power station, as well as the Amran cement factory.

The evacuation orders issued by the Israeli army are intended to minimize civilian casualties ahead of potential further retaliatory airstrikes, specifically targeting Houthi "terrorist infrastructure" in response to ongoing threats against Israel.
